Payment: COSPay and real-time bank transfer (SEPA Instant)
You pay for the vehicle and fees via bank transfer through COSPay, CarOnSale’s payment processing service. The amount is due immediately after the purchase. The bank account information, amount, and payment description are listed in your payment request under “My Purchases.” A real-time transfer (SEPA Instant) is credited within seconds, while a standard bank transfer typically takes 2 to 3 business days. However, your payment will only be posted immediately if the payment reference and amount match exactly.
Received an invoice
After your purchase, you will receive an invoice and a payment request. You can find both under "My Purchases."

Please transfer the full amount shown on the payment request, using the payment reference provided there.
Vehicle is cleared for use
As soon as CarOnSale has matched the payment to your purchase, the vehicle will be released. If you're picking up the vehicle yourself, you'll receive the pickup slip; if you've booked shipping, the logistics team will arrange for pickup and delivery.
Receive documents
The vehicle documents will be mailed to you after payment is received.

What is COSPay?
COSPay is the payment processing service used on CarOnSale and is operated by the payment service provider Stripe Payments Europe. Your payment goes to CarOnSale, not to Seller. As soon as it is received, CarOnSale releases the vehicle and arranges for the vehicle documents to be sent.
Can I pay via real-time bank transfer (SEPA Instant)?
Yes. Banks in the eurozone must offer real-time transfers starting in October 2025 and may not charge more for them than for a standard transfer. The money will then be credited to the recipient’s account within seconds. CarOnSale posts the payment immediately if the payment description and amount match the payment request exactly. If either of these details differs, the matching process takes longer, and the vehicle may not be released until the next business day—even with a real-time transfer.
What purpose do I need to specify?
Enter the exact payment reference listed on your payment request, and transfer exactly the amount specified there. Only then will CarOnSale automatically and immediately assign your payment to the correct purchase. If you made a mistake in the payment reference, create a payment-related inquiry under “My Inquiries” and upload the transfer receipt.
When is my payment considered received?
As soon as the amount has been credited without reservation to the account that CarOnSale has provided to you. If you have transferred only a portion of the amount, the remainder remains outstanding, and the vehicle will not be released until full payment has been received.
My payment hasn't been confirmed yet. What should I do?
A standard bank transfer usually takes 2 to 3 business days. If your payment has not been confirmed after 3 business days, please submit an inquiry regarding the payment under “My Inquiries” and attach the transfer receipt, including the date, amount, and payment description.
Can I pay later?
CarOnSale offers "Buy Now, Pay Later" to certain buyers: You buy right away and pay later. The financing partner is Billie. Learn more on the "Buy Now, Pay Later" page (/buy-now-pay-later).
